Subscription Service
Founda's Subscription Service lets digital health solutions and healthcare providers seamlessly connect with real-time event notifications. Applications will receive instant updates on vital activities like patient admissions, discharges or changes in contact information.
Before diving into how to use the Subscription Service, make sure to learn all about the Subscription Fundamentals!
These fundamentals like Subscriptions, Subscription Topics and the Subscription Topic Catalog are brought together in the following diagram:
Simplified Workflow of Founda's Subscription Service:
- Provider Organization sets Subscription Topic Catalog: Before the process can begin, the Provider Organization selects and defines Subscription Topics, representing specific events or data updates, to include in their Subscription Topic Catalog.
- Client Searches for Relevant Topics: The client begins by searching for Subscription Topics within the catalog of the Provider Organization it is authorized for.
- Requesting Subscription: Upon identifying a topic that aligns with the client application's requirements, it initiates a Subscription request, specifying the desired Subscription Topic.
- Authorization Process: The Provider Organization reviews the Subscription request and decides whether to authorize or reject it.
- Authorization Granted: If the request is authorized, the Subscription is activated. From this point forward, whenever an event occurs that corresponds to the Subscription Topic, the subscription service evaluates all client applications to determine which ones are eligible for notification.
This streamlined process ensures that clients receive timely updates about events relevant to their operations, enhancing the overall efficiency of healthcare data management and communication.
For each activated subscription topic, a Provider Organization can define additional conditions that apply to the topic. For example, a Provider Organization activates the pre-admin subscription topic and adds an additional filter to only broadcast notifications when patients are pre-admitted to the cardiology department. In a similar way, an application client can include a filter in the subscription request to limit the notifications to events that match the criteria the application is interested in.
